Sobre este proyecto

According to the UN, "during the brutally cold winters in Mongolia, many street children in Ulaanbaatar find their best refuge is under their feet. They are called "manhole children" because they seek the warmth of the city’s underground pipes to survive."

Mongol Kids' Home is a local center that cares for these vulnerable kids who come from low-income homes.

Our team of 10 will embark on a 6 day vision trip to Ulaanbaatar to support Mongol Kids' Home, as King's Cross Church takes this first step to see if/how we can partner with them more long term.

Please check our individual pages to get more information on our reasons for joining the team and specific prayer requests. We are grateful for your partnership and help in mobilizing us to be the hands and feet that share the Good News to the people of Mongolia.

Mongolian Christianity

Revival and Growth (1990s - Present):

  • With the fall of the Soviet Union and Mongolia's transition to democracy in the early 1990s, religious freedom was restored. This period marked the resurgence of Christianity in Mongolia.
  • Foreign missionaries, often from South Korea and other countries, began arriving to share the Christian faith. They established churches, conducted outreach, and engaged in various social and humanitarian activities.
  • Despite initial resistance and challenges, Christianity began to gain some acceptance among Mongolians, especially the younger generations.
  • Over time, Mongolian Christians also emerged as leaders and evangelists within their own communities, contributing to the growth of the local Christian movement.

Challenges and Progress:

  • Cultural barriers, including Mongolia's deep-rooted Buddhist and shamanistic traditions, presented challenges to the spread of Christianity.
  • Some Christian groups were viewed skeptically, and there were cases of confusion between authentic Christian teachings and unorthodox beliefs.
  • Legal and bureaucratic obstacles in registering churches and obtaining official recognition sometimes hampered the activities of Christian groups.
  • After a rapid growth of christanity in the country, there has been steady decline in last 10 years.
